Our artist, photographer: Levent Küey

Born in İzmir, 1957, Graduate of Bornova Anadolu High School (BAL’75), Gridley High School (AFS’75), Aegean University Medical School (’81), Psychiatry Department of the same university (’85). His interest in photography has started during his university years, along with his interests in arts, poetry and psychiatry and making a change in the world! He became an Associate Professor of Psychiatry in 1989. Worked at Bilgi University as an academician, served in national and international professional societies and as the Secretary General of the World Psychiatric Association (2008-2014), as the Board member of the European Psychiatric Association (2015-2019) and gave conferences in more than hundred countries and published articles and book chapters.

In his early sixties, he had the time to take basic and advanced photography courses at IFSAK, followed by seminars, projects, group exhibitions and joint books. In the process of learning photography, he also learned being patient, and trusting light and time. He has been awarded with prizes in national and international photography contests. Nowadays, he enjoys publishing articles on the IFSAK Blog. He considers photography not something taken by a camera, but an art form created by the photographer. He is after the priority of technique, superiority of aesthetics and pleasure of creativity. He wishes to incorporate “photographic-like meanings” in his life.
